Anker Soundcore Life P2i Review & Verdict
The Peace of Mind Provided by the Anker Brand
In recent years, truly wireless earphones have become the mainstream style. Various manufacturers are competing to release a wide variety of products.
As the market for truly wireless earphones has grown, the level of chaos has increased, with questionable Chinese manufacturers releasing truly wireless earphones and products lacking the PSE mark being sold.
Given this situation, being a product from the well-known manufacturer Anker provides a great sense of security.
Mr. GadgetTruly wireless earphones contain batteries, after all.
Using strange, unknown manufacturers is not something we can really recommend.
As we will explain in detail below, the inclusion of an 18-month warranty plus an exclusive 6-month extended warranty for members is another reassuring point.
Sound Quality…Equipped with 10mm drivers for powerful sound
Despite being a compact, small model, it is equipped with 10mm drivers, delivering impactful bass.
In addition, it features two equalizer modes: a Bass mode that amplifies low frequencies and a Podcast mode that clearly emphasizes voice audio, making it possible to enjoy sound tailored to the situation and the characteristics of the track.
Supported codecs are average for this price range.
The supported codecs are SBC and AAC.
Mr. GadgetWell, the impression is that this is pretty standard for this price range.
In this price bracket, at best you might expect additional support for aptX.
Please refer to the table below for the characteristics of each codec.
| Codec | Characteristics |
|---|---|
| SBC | The most standard codec. Basically supported by all devices. Sound quality and latency are standard, neither particularly good nor bad. |
| AAC | Frequently used in Apple products such as the iPhone. Generally supported on Android 8.0 or later as well. Lower latency and higher sound quality than SBC. |
| aptX | Primarily adopted in Android devices. Lower latency and higher sound quality than SBC and AAC. |
| aptX LL | LL stands for Low Latency. Features even lower latency than aptX. Sound quality is equivalent to aptX, but achieves ultra-low latency of under 0.04 seconds. |
| aptX HD | Capable of playback in high-resolution audio equivalent quality. Slightly higher latency than aptX. |
| aptX Adaptive | A codec that stabilizes and reduces latency for aptX HD. By changing from a fixed bit rate to a variable bit rate, processing is more stabilized and lower latency is achieved. |
| LDAC | An ultra-high sound quality codec developed by Sony. The highest sound quality among those introduced so far. Generally supported on Android 8.0 or later as well. Higher latency than SBC. |

Noise Canceling…Not Supported
The “Soundcore Life P2i” does not support noise canceling.
Mr. GadgetGiven this price range, the lack of noise canceling is probably unavoidable.
However, recently, fully wireless earbuds equipped with noise canceling are increasing even at around this price point, so it is a bit disappointing…
Ambient Sound Mode…Not Supported
Similar to noise canceling, this is not supported.
Lightweight Earbud Units
The earbud units (single side) weigh approximately 4.4g, making them quite lightweight.
When wearing them for extended periods, the weight of the units is one of the important considerations, but at 4.4g, I think there is absolutely no issue.
Playback Time…Moderate
The “Soundcore Life P2i” allows for up to 8 hours of music playback when the earbud units are fully charged. Additionally, when used in combination with the included charging case, it enables up to 28 hours of continuous playback. Furthermore, a 10-minute charge provides approximately 1 hour of music playback.
Whether this playback time is exceptionally long, it really isn’t, and whether it’s short, it really isn’t either; it feels like it aptly earns the description of moderate.
App…Not Supported
Noise cancellation and ambient sound mode are also unsupported.
Mr. GadgetI usually expect Soundcore products to support their app, so this is quite disappointing.
In fact, taking a quick look at the official website, this seems to be the only current Soundcore product that doesn’t support the app…
Peace of mind with an 18-month warranty + 6-month member-exclusive extended warranty
The “Soundcore Life P2i” comes with an 18-month warranty plus a 6-month member-exclusive extended warranty.
Additionally, Anker’s customer support is reliable, giving you peace of mind.
Mr. GadgetTrue to its reputation as a well-known manufacturer, Anker offers solid support.
When an Anker product of mine broke in the past, it was still within the warranty period and they replaced it right away!
Conclusion
You get what you pay for. Recommended for beginners!
To be frank, the “Soundcore Life P2i” is an earbud with performance that matches its price, and it isn’t exceptionally cost-effective.
However, factoring in that it is made by a trustworthy manufacturer like Anker and comes with a long warranty period, it can be said to be a highly commendable pair of earbuds.
If you are buying truly wireless earbuds for the very first time, we recommend trying out an entry-level model from a major manufacturer like this first.
