In recent years, truly wireless earbuds have become increasingly competitive.
Of course, high-end earbuds continue to evolve, but the growth of mid-range earbuds is remarkable.
The earbuds I’m reviewing this time, EarFun Air S, are amazing value for money at around 6,000 yen, offering noise canceling and multi-point connection.
I strongly felt that it stood out from other mid-range earbuds that prioritize cost performance.
This time, I will thoroughly review what is good and what is not so good about EarFun’s best value earbuds, the 『EarFun Air S』!

- Affordable at around 7,000 yen, great cost performance
- Equipped with active noise canceling
- Supports ambient sound mode
- Supports multi-point connection
- Supports aptX
- Supports wireless charging
- Touch sensor is too sensitive

Ms. GadgetIt was slightly off-white with a pinkish hue.
It’s cute, isn’t it!
Please note that automatic ear detection is not supported.
Mr. GadgetPersonally, I find automatic ear detection to be more of a nuisance…
I actually appreciate it not being included (lol)
Actual Usage Experience
Sound Quality… Strong bass. Slightly V-shaped. Very good for the price.
As I mentioned in the heading, the first thing I thought when using the 『EarFun Air S』 was that the bass is quite strong.
Overall, the sound tends to be V-shaped, with strong bass and highs that aren’t as prominent compared to the bass.
The resolution is good for the price and doesn’t sound unnatural at all.
To summarize, it’s not a cheap sound at all, and the powerful bass is a characteristic.
I highly recommend these earbuds to those who like bass.
However, if you like pop music, especially if you focus on vocals when listening to music, I recommend setting the equalizer in the app, which I will explain later!
Supports aptX!
Do you know about the codec aptX, which you should support if you are using an Android smartphone?
| Codec | Characteristics |
|---|---|
| SBC | The most standard codec. Basically, all devices support it. Sound quality and latency are standard. |
| AAC | Commonly used by Apple products. Android 8.0 or later generally supports it. Lower latency and higher sound quality than SBC. |
| aptX | Mainly adopted by Android. Lower latency and higher sound quality than SBC. |
| aptX LL | LL stands for Low Latency. It has even lower latency than aptX. Sound quality is the same as aptX, but latency is less than 0.04 seconds. |
| aptX HD | Supports high-resolution equivalent sound quality. Slightly higher latency than aptX. |
| aptX Adaptive | A codec that stabilizes and lowers the latency of aptX HD. Changing from a fixed bit rate to a variable bit rate has made processing more stable and reduced latency. |
| LDAC | A super high-quality codec developed by Sony. The highest sound quality among the ones introduced so far. Android 8.0 or later generally supports it. Offers 3 sound quality modes: sound quality priority, connection priority, and balanced. Higher latency than SBC. |
You can find more information about codecs and other wireless earbud-related topics in this article.

iPhone does not support aptX, so be careful.
Most recent Android phones do support it.
If it only supports SBC, there will be significant latency, and you will feel the delay even when watching videos.
Also, aptX generally has higher sound quality than SBC.
As I mentioned earlier, if you are using an Android smartphone, it is preferable to use earbuds that support aptX!
Also, if you have an iPhone, the 『EarFun Air S』 also supports AAC, which you will want to support.
Ms. GadgetAndroid and iPhone both support at least the codecs that the 『EarFun Air S』 supports!
