Actual Usage Experience
Sound Quality… Well-balanced, more than worth the price
Overall, the balance is good, and I didn’t particularly feel the strong bass boost that Soundcore used to be known for.
It’s slightly bass-boosted, but it feels like it’s well-balanced across the entire frequency range.
The vocals sound good, so I especially recommend it for people who like pop music!
However, if you like a strong bass boost with emphasized highs and lows, you might find it a little lacking.
But, as mentioned later, you can adjust the sound to some extent using the equalizer in the app.
Also, it supports LDAC, allowing you to listen to sound quality equivalent to high-resolution audio, and as I will explain in detail later, the sound quality changes significantly.
Supports LDAC!
Do you know about LDAC, a codec that is said to dramatically improve sound quality?
| Codec | Features |
|---|---|
| SBC | The most standard codec. Basically, all devices support it. The sound quality and latency are average. |
| AAC | Often used in Apple products such as iPhones. Android 8.0 or later generally supports it. Better sound quality and lower latency than SBC. |
| aptX | Mainly adopted by Android. Better sound quality and lower latency than SBC and AAC. |
| aptX LL | LL stands for Low Latency. It has even lower latency than aptX. The sound quality is the same as aptX, but the latency is less than 0.04 seconds. |
| aptX HD | Supports high-resolution sound quality equivalent to aptX. It has slightly higher latency. |
| aptX Adaptive | A codec that stabilizes and lowers the latency of aptX HD. Changing from a fixed bit rate to a variable bit rate has made processing more stable and reduced latency. |
| LDAC | A high-quality codec developed by Sony. It has the best sound quality among the ones introduced so far. Android 8.0 or later generally supports it. It has 3 sound quality modes: sound quality priority, connection priority, and balanced. It has higher latency than SBC. |
I explained the codecs and other wireless earbud-related information in this article.

Be careful, iPhones do not support LDAC!
Most recent Android devices do support it.
I tried LDAC with these earbuds, and the sound quality is significantly different.
Before trying it, I thought the difference would be subtle, but it’s surprisingly noticeable.
In my opinion, the sound quality is improved by about 1.8 levels.
In particular, the highs and lows are clearly different, and I was surprised when I heard it!
Mr. GadgetWell, the multi-point connection is also disabled when LDAC is turned on in most other earbuds, so it’s not just this model.
Noise Canceling… Incredibly effective for the price
The “Soundcore Space A40” is equipped with Anker’s new Ultra Noise Canceling 2.0 technology.
It can also automatically adjust the strength of the noise canceling based on the surrounding noise level, and I felt it was quite advanced.

The effectiveness is very good for this price, and the cost performance is excellent.
If you put on noise canceling and listen to music on the train, you won’t be bothered by the surrounding noise.
However, if you turn on noise canceling without playing music and ride the train, you can still hear the train noise to some extent.
Ms. GadgetI think it’s top-notch among earbuds in the same price range!

External Sound Capture… Usable, but feels unnatural
When you switch the mode from noise canceling to external sound capture, the change is very noticeable.
You can hear the surrounding sounds very clearly.
However, the high frequencies are emphasized, so it doesn’t feel natural.

Compact yet Super Long Battery Life!
The biggest feature of these earbuds is exceptionally long playback time among ANKER’s earbuds.
The earbuds themselves can play music for up to 10 hours on a full charge, and when combined with the included charging case, you can enjoy up to 50 hours of music playback, which is amazing for their compact size.
Mr. GadgetYou can easily use it for a whole day without worrying about charging!
Of course, the playback time will be shorter if you use functions such as LDAC and noise canceling, but you won’t have any problems with the battery life in everyday use.

Soundcore’s App is So Easy to Use!

You can set up the earbuds in the app like this.

You can also customize the touch controls.
Mr. GadgetIt’s a nice point that you can customize it in detail!

You also need to set up LDAC, game mode to reduce latency, wind noise reduction, and touch sounds in the app.

The equalizer allows you to create your own custom settings or choose from presets.
Ms. GadgetAs you can see, there are many presets available.
The fact that there are many presets available is a very good thing!

Summary
The Soundcore Space A40 is a Must-Buy!
I bought them during Amazon’s Black Friday sale, and the price at the time of purchase was less than 10,000 yen!
For that price, you can experience Anker’s noise canceling technology, and it also supports LDAC, so there’s nothing to complain about.
Of course, there are earbuds that are more expensive and offer better sound quality and ease of use, but there aren’t many that are so well-balanced for this price.
The battery life is also exceptional, with up to 50 hours of playback despite its compact size. It has more pros than cons.

- Excellent cost performance
- Equipped with Anker’s latest noise cancellation
- Ultra-compact earbud body
- Supports external sound capture
- Supports multi-point connection
- Supports LDAC
- Supports wireless charging
